Message range. That's determined by the gear ratios in the trans. Putting the stock diff gearing in will give you the perception of a broader powerband, because you are in gear longer...meaning, in part, you aren't accelerating as quickly. You go thru the gears quicker in a lower geared car because the engine has to turn faster to go the same speed, but the engine turns additionally faster because of the increase in torque due to the gearing. I hear you about 1st gear. That's the fun gear, with traction.
